From the recording The Rape of E Jean Carroll
Jouhatsu is about the vanishing people in Japan (and elsewhere), who for various reasons crack, bail on their lives and leave everything behind, and basically live in hiding, all of which resonated strongly with me. There is a doc about it, "Into thin air" that I highly recommend. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt31540621/
Lyrics
Jouhatsu
I ended up in chains before
I knew what was happening
And slowly but surely the concrete walls
started closing in
And all the doors were firmly locked
I was helpless with nowhere to go
Except through the icy gates of death
Away from the shackles of woe
I live under the radar
I do just enough to survive
Now I live a lonely life
in the shadow of all I have lost
I kissed everything goodbye
Had my reason, I had my why
I’ve chosen to live with the hurt I caused
I’ve chosen to live with the pain
Wherever I go, whatever I do,
I won’t let that happen again
I will not chase any fortune
I will never ever chase love
Make the most of your moments
You cannot count on forever
